Losing Extra Pounds

If you've decided to lose weight (whether a few pounds or a significant portion of your body mass), you've probably done your homework on diets, plans, gyms, exercises, and whatever else you can find on the subject. If so, you've probably seen that most reputable sources claim that weight loss and fitness are inextricably linked. If not, that's what I'm going to tell you right now.

If you wish to lose weight, you must first consider a few facts. The most evident is that you will lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume. To lose weight, you can either choose to perform no "additional" activity and eat very, very little, or you can stick to a schedule that allows you to burn enough calories without starving yourself. It's also worth noting that restricting your calorie intake too much can backfire because your body will slow down your metabolism to match the change in calorie intake. This will result in you gaining weight rather than losing it.

The second point is that fat is burned when water and oxygen are combined. Make sure you consume at least a half gallon of water each day. When you exercise, your body will utilise this water to help you lose weight in a healthy way. For this to function, you must mix water intake with some type of aerobic exercise (more oxygen). Choose an activity you enjoy and can do on a regular basis, such as walking, biking, swimming, or yard work. It's a good fat-burning activity as long as you get your heart rate up a little.

Finally, when it comes to weight loss and fitness, consistency is crucial. So many individuals rush into something with the expectation of keeping up the pace for a few weeks or months and then returning to their regular lives.

In reality, your plan should be a commitment for the rest of your life. Even after you've lost the weight, you'll need to eat well and exercise often to maintain your desired weight. So, choose an activity that you enjoy (or don't mind doing). One of my favourite activities is walking. If you live in the city, you can walk part of the way to work, saving money on gym memberships and not having to worry about fitting exercise into your schedule.

If not, you can usually find 20 minutes to go for a brisk stroll around your area, no matter where you reside. Bring a friend to keep you engaged, and you'll notice how quickly the time passes. The link between fitness and weight loss is too strong to ignore. So, make a plan and stick to it for the rest of your life.
